For my 30th birthday i'm going to rent a supercar for a few days. I think i've narrowed my choices down to the two in the thread title, but i cannot for the life of me decide which one to go for. So, I thought i'd post here to get some opinions?

I've never driven either, but that's a seriously tough choice to make! Personally I think I'd go for the F430. It's completely ostentatious, vulgar and verging on crass, but it would be immense fun for a few days.

The gallardo is apparently a slightly better drive according to those who have driven them both or owned both.

That said, in renting one for a few days they are close enough to go for whichever one you prefer as you won't get enough out of them to really tell the difference.

Given that it is a hire car, you can't exactly go thrapping them to within an inch of their life, and in that respect, I'd say the F430 will be a bit wasted.

I'd go for the Gallardo too, as it has a more appealing external prescense to it (IMO).

For me the Gallardo's pedal arrangement spoilt it (manual LHD model) waaaay too close together meant you had to be really careful changing gear (the hire company wont be happy with a cooked clutch)

Get the e-gear version or the 430

i may be wrong but, as long as you dont crash, why cant you "go thrapping them to within an inch of their life"?

oh and the F430 :)

I've driven a F430 Spyder around a track and although it was great I would still take the Lambo. Lamborghini for me are one of the only manufacturers that really know what a supercar should look like!

Because unless you drive something every day with similar performance you're likely to stack it. You can thrash a slow car in relative safety but doing it in something quick and unfamiliar on the public roads is exponentially more dangerous.

I would hazard a guess that the average person "thrapping it to within an inch of it's life" is most likely going to end in expensive, crumpled tears. Unless of course you are versed in controlling high-powered supercars, and know the limits of the handling.

Gallardo, not saying the Ferrari's are common but I see a good deal more of them than I do Lambo's. If you get a Gallardo in an "in your face" colour like bright green/orange people will definitely take notice :D
