I have a slightly odd and annoying issue with my LAN connection in windows XP. I've tried searching for this, but haven't really found much.

Basically if I plug my computer in after turning it on it starts showing the animation that I usually think of as the "aquiring IP address" The problem is that it never stops showing this animation in the system tray! It seems to successfully connect, gets an IP by DHCP, etc and I can then use the internet with absolutely no problems. But it keeps showing this damn animation in the system tray. anybody have any idea why it might be doing that. It's a relatively small gripe, since making sure it's plugged into my router before turning on solves it, but it's still annoying.

Hmm... well, been playing with it and seem to have found a sort of solution. Basically if I disable the other connection (mobo has 2) then the first "finishes" connecting properly. However I'd still prefer a proper solution and I still don't know why it does it in the first place.

I used to have that issue sometimes but it was with a wireless connection with all latest drivers. I had to right click on the icon > Open Network Connections and refresh the window.
