lan gaming via switch?

hey guys, my router is all set up in my room, but i was thinking of trying some lan gaming on warcraft 3 downstairs, but i dont want to have to move my router. But i do have an old switch, so if i simple plugged both pc's into that, would it work ? it would have no internet connection but i figured that doesn't matter with 'local'

should work, provided the game serve doesn't require a net connection

if it's old it may not be 100Mbit so it might not be as fast as you expect. But it should be fine.if you only using 2 PCs you don't even need a switch...just a crossover cable.

If its for gaming, a 10mbit switch will be fine too ^^

Depends how many players. Older switches tend to lack good backplanes. Also some NICs throw wobblies negotiating 10base lord only knows why.
