Can anyone recommend a free LAN messaging service for windows 7.
I would like to be able to send a message to multiple computers on our local network (there's only 10 of us).
Can the message stay open until the recipient interacts with it and maybe the sender gets an notification that the recipient has read the message.

I would prefer free but will consider anything really as long as it does the job.

You'll need to setup a Spark Server on a machine somewhere, but once you've configured it, connecting using clients is dead easy.

What about TeamSpeak?

I would love to be able to use sticky notes in this way.
I use them on my pc as prompts / reminders etc...
It would be ideal if I could send a sticky note to another pc on our local network.

Skype is good, and useful for going back and checking messages. We use it at work a lot to pass bits and pieces around even when we are talking face to face we will often put solutions/snippets in skype so we can look back at it in months.

We use Atlassian's Hipchat, it's free (unless you want voice/video/desktop sharing).. And it's got a nice iOS/Android App..

It is hosted though, but we use it for communications on-site and between sites, and it seems to be accepted by everyone as it's so light weight..
