I've had no problems with my lan/internet/router set up before, its just from my bt homehub into my lan port but i have just come home and now it wont connect. I was working fine this afternoon and now it just repeatedly tries to find the connection the comes up 'a network cable is unplugged'. Now i've checked all the cable are in fine, tried both ports on the homehub and tried 2 cables both of which i know work fine and am having no joy.
Any suggestions as to what may be going on ?

ok i think i have tried all options with the onboard lan port in my pc and to check its not the homehub i have turned off my laptop wireless and plug the homehub directly into my laptop which is working fine as i type so have i pretty much ruled out anything else it could be?
we have recently had a few power cuts with rather loud noises (had 2 this morning that woke me up, not qutie sure whats going on), do you think this may have affect my mother board somehow? everything else seems to be working fine....

As its saying the cable is unplugged, Im guessing windows is still seeing it, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

I've had a network port go on a Mobo once before, if you have a spare PCI port NIC are so cheap, you could probably get one for under a tenner. It does sound like you port is bust!

EDIT: P.S. Might be worth buying a surge protector.

seems its come back to life this morning  never mind but thanks for the advice on the surge protector, will grab one soon when i upgrade :)
