Hi,

I'm having a friend over for a gaming weekend!! I have installed UT2004, UT99, NFS: Most Wanted.

Are there any other games worth getting for the weekend to play on LAN?

Recommendations please! :D

EDIT:
Machine 1: E6600, 8800GTS, 2GB GeIL.
Machine 2: Athlon 2600+, 128MB 9800 Pro, 512MB

So has to be able to play on machine 2.

I was thinking of a C&C game too, think I have Tiberium Sun somewhere. Its straight through cable for router to workstation isn't it?

can't you use straight cables for pc to pc these days anyway, with modern network adapters?

I was told this by my old flatmate who quite often just made stuff up because it made him sound clever, so may be complete rubbish.

Quake3 is a blast and easy to set up and play.

memories of a previous job i had, about 20 of us would launch up q3 at lunch and just shout abuse at each other for 40 mins then discuss who owned who and laugh at the noobs over tea and subway's

Generals is a must. Good thinking with Need for Speed. Also if you could the latest installment of Serious Sam and play Co-Op. Awesome fun. I have had great experience with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. These games should run fine provided you turn the graphics down on the slower machine. :)

Sounds like the best place to work ever! Think I might install Q3 too got that somewhere!

Me and one of my uni housemates use to reguarly game together (shared a house for 2 years) mostly we played CS/CS:S side by side which was a good laugh but we also played:

Diablo, Diablo 2, Baulders Gate 2, SNES emulator for Mario Kart  and a few MMGs, EQ2, UO.

Always much more fun gameing side by side.

You should try out Tetris Attack / Tetris 4 multiplayer via snes/emu too.

It's a rocking game - really fast paced and challenging... Not actually very much like tetris but that's actually a good thing in multiplayer :)

Definately play some quake3! 1v1 q3dm17.....I could play that for hours if I could find a decent server/be bothered to pay for one myself!

With the older C&C you're going to have to set up an IPX protcol in the network settings to get it working.

IIRC Generals was the first C&C to use TCP/IP.
