Language Translators

So the story goes..

Im stuck in a rut jobwise and want to try something new... the hours I work mean that I can put some decent hours into studying for something new.

Now I quite fancy doing a home study course on learning the Spanish language (for pleasure) and was wondering long term if I am successful and enjoy it, then what would the prospects be like of earning some extra cash doing translating ?

translation work would usually require you to have a degree in the language in question.

pssshhh, you don't need a degree in a foreign language, my dad has worked for Philips for 25 years translating text into French/Dutch/English

you just have to know the language really well

btw he has a degree in English Literature

yeah, well that's why i said 'usually'.

and degree or not, it's most likely they will want you to have a decent qualification in english (like your dad), at least an a-level.
