Lappy memory

Quick question...

Have an Acer 5024wlmi.... apparently it takes DDR333 memory, i have 2x512mb in it.

Want to upgrade it to 2gb prior to installing win7.

Will that do? Realize it is DDR2 memory, but DDR memory is more expensive from looking around, and OCUK doesnt stock it...

No it won't physically fit, you need the expensive stuff unfortunately.

Googling your laptop shows that is takes DDR2 memory, run CPU-Z and click on the memory tab to confirm it. As I might be looking at a diffrent (older) model.

Ah yes seems to be a few laptops with that model number, and some do use DDR, looks like you need the expensive stuff.

even though they are both 200 pins?

Or is it because you cant run DDR2 ram in DDR sockets?

Cant believe that the price is 4x!

Yeah even though the pin count is the same the allignment notch isn't in the same place, plus they run completely different voltages. Guess the price is due to lack of demand not a lot of the older DDR laptops will take a 1GB stick.

thanks guys, had to bite down and bought the ddr modules.... got 2x 1gb sticks for 41 bucks.... daylight robbery i tell ya

only good thing is i get to sell off the current 2x512mb sticks at a higher price since they are DDR...
