Evening Everybody,

I am look for a laptop that can be a middle happy with working (Coding/Meeting Clients) and also run games at a medium range.

I have been looking at the Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15.6-inch Laptop but there graphic cards just let them down heavily but love the look of them and would prefer the accutype keys too as they feel great to work on.

My budget is around £700, Could ideally would like a decent resolution, Just seems everything is 1366x768 and that really isn't amazing.

Thank you so much everyone, Hope you can help me just to much to pick from lol.

Check out the new Dell Inspiron 15R SE. After discount codes and cashback it can be had for a little over £700. It has a 1080p display, Ivybrige and a capable graphics card. (Despite being capable it is still mobile and probably will not run games that well at 1080p, would run better at 720p where the scaling would decrease quality)

Looking for something similar to yourself.

So far I've shortlisted to Dell XPS 15, Dell 15z, Gigabyte P2532N and finally I've been reading up on a laptop called Optimus III (google it) which is a Clevo system. I'm leaning towards the Optimus at the moment as it ticks all the boxes when specced up with a 1080p screen, i5 and GeForce GT650m which I'm led to believe is a pretty decent card. Oh and the bonus is it looks very understated and is more than presentable to clients.

Massively struggling on which one to get :o

Ah just to much choice :), i hate laptop shopping possibly the worse thing ever. Although the Gigabyte one looks really nice, just can't find many reviews on it.

Optimus III I would go for

It is a clevo system which means it will have a lot of support of other forums. It also comes with i7-3610M, 8GB of 1600Mhz ram and 500GB 7200rpm HDD all for £700 (excluding Windows)

I wish Clevo systems were more popular, they're by far the best price and performance wise

I specc'd that system up on the website and it wasn't 700 quid!

Just about it does

although I would up the warranty 1 notch to

I get cashback but where discount codes?

Finally made my mind up and gone with the Inspiron 15R SE and prob saved around £150 on it with 10% discount and upto 6-8% cashback :) so around about same price as the lower i5 version.

Have you received yours yet mate?

I went ahead and ordered the 15R SE also. Looking at the Dell order status it says delivery for next Friday, at least it's in production now.

Looking forward to seeing what the performance is going to be like. Unfortunately I only really own old games so not very relevant benchmarks going to come from me :o

Mine is estimated for Wednesday only just clicked to production today though, so sounds yours wasn't on Pre-Production for to long.

Looking forward to it, already purchased a Samsung 256GB ssd to put in it too :) bargain price at £140 on ocuk.

Really looking forward to trying some games like Diablo 3 and BF3 see how they handle :)

Yeah mine was in pre-production for no more than 24hrs so I'm hoping I will receive it sooner than expected, that would be nice.

I went for the 15R SE over a Clevo based model purely because overall it just looks like a slightly nicer package, but not forgetting I/we aren't getting the Geforce 650M which is supposedley still a decent chunk faster than the 7730M which will come in the Dell. It would have been nice for Dell to make it an upgrade choice seeing as the it's standard on the 17R.

Did you go for the 1080p screen?

Yep went for the top model, the i7 with bluray drive. Which is the 1080p screen :)

That was one key points to the laptop that i wanted, After looking the graphics card up it is said it can run Diablo 3 on high at good fps so still a decent card overall.

Couple reasons for the laptop is also work related so the graphics was not top of the priority list.

Just had an updated delivery notice and should be delivered on Wednesday, getting excited now :D

It's coming all the way from Japan, no wonder why its's taking so bloody long!

Haha, must be on the same shipment as me :) they are shipping together.

Can not wait, booked the day off work to wait for it, then can mess with it for the day :D

Feel like a kid at Christmas lol.
