Laptop cpu for photo editing ?

Ok guys my son is looking for a (not expensive £400 ish) new laptop for photo editing. His desktop has an i5 and 8gb ram but he needs a laptop to do some editing on when his flatmate has friends round and is using his lounge.

I suggested any good laptop make with an i5 cpu plenty of ram and if necessary swap out the drive for an ssd.

Any suggestions and is this advice ok ?
