Laptop CPU

I have a laptop (Sony vaio) fz11z 5 years old. It has a intel t7300 processor with 2gb ram. Is it possible to upgrade the processor to obtain more performance? Is it an easy process? Any info much appreciated.

I think I've opened one up before and I seem to remember that you can upgrade the cpu as it isn't soldered to the board but tbh the gains you will see from upgrading the cpu will be minimal and sourcing a faster cpu will be difficult.

I'm not sure how the cooling will cope or what the max cpu the board can take. Just as a personal opinion I would keep the money and buy a newer i5 / i7 based laptop for better gains and less hassle. Your money will go further in the long run too and you can recuperate some of the costs through selling the fz11z.

From what I remember the board is quite awkward to get to and requires the entire top casing to be removed where you will see it below covered by it heat plate connected to a heat pipe going to the fan/heatsink.

Think will be better off selling up and getting new laptop since they are quite cheap.

Since its socket P you might get something like a T9300 to work in there (9/10 this works even without a BIOS update but not a certainty), but honestly i'd upgrade your RAM and maybe put a cheap SSD, you'll see more boost.

Honestly the T7300 is a pretty good chip for that socket. If you want more performance look into getting 4gb ram
