It was working fine last night and this morning. After an xfire update i clicked to opened WoW but nothing happened. Was talking to a friend at the time and noticed i couldn't click any icons (quick launch) and wow was "stuck up". Task manager wouldn't open and nothing apart from xfire responded. I restarted and the laptop now hangs on the black screen with the underscore (after bios).

What can i do? Is it possible xfire is the casuse?

Thanks for any help

Whilst the computer is booting up, try tapping F8 to boot the OS into safe mode. You can then uninstall x-fire, hopefully that will fix it. Failing that you could always do a system restore to a few days before the laptop crashed.

The laptop doesn't get too hot during opperation does it?

Tapping F8 didn't bring up the menu as the laptop doesn't get to that stage of the boot process i think.

It's run run pretty hot but have always tried to keep it as well ventlated as possible.

Anything else i could try?
