Hi was wondering about these Hard drive caddy's you put in place of your dvd drive on laptops.

I have a packard bell easynote laptop. Do any of them fit? i mean are laptop dvd's a standard size etc?

Just curious as hardly ever use the dvd drive and would be nice to have extra storage.

Maybe someone in here knows something about them and can shed some light.

thank you

erm to a point.

most standard laptops need either the 7mm or 12mm drives.

if you just search your laptop in google it should tell you.

would give you a link but you need the exact model and don't want to guess and mis-advise you buddy.

you can even keep the old dvd drive and get a sata to usb cable and use it externally on the rare occasion when you need one :D

I have had two of these caddies so far, they work reasonably well, so long as you get the right interface (IDE vs SATA) and right size (12.7mm vs 9.5mm). Depending on the face plate of your current DVD drive, you might have to pry it off to fit the caddy if you still want the laptop to look the same after you make the switch.
