Hey peeps,

I have a fujistu s6120 laptop, 3 keys stopped working, i bought a replacement keyboard, it was borked, got a 2nd replacement F.O.C. and the same 3 keys from 2nd replacement keyboard do not work...

I plugged in an external keyboard, three faulty keys on the external keyboard work...

It cant be the keyboard controller on the laptop as that would be replaced when I purchased the new one...

So what the hell is going on??

pls help

thanks

thats what im saying, their is only one cable on the keyboard and of course that would have been replaced courtesy of the new keyboard...

hmmmm

keyboard mapping hasnt been reset/corrupted has it? eg set to martian key layout (they have no need for q's you know)

a little humor. needed when these things happen...

check in language tools. thats my best guess

if it was keyboard layout this would also be replicated with the external keyboard.

I say you have a knackered connector on the system board. bit odd that its 3 keys though as i would have thought it would have effected more than that.

thanks for replies so far...

I say you have a knackered connector on the system board
do you mean the motherboard?

I contacted Fujistu support and they advised me it can only be now the keyboard connector from the mainboard....They advised me to replace the motherboard...

I am just worried if I replace the mobo and its not that then what could it be?

Is it possible the keyboard connector being faulty could only mean 3 keys do not work? as I would have thought the entire keyboard wouldnt work? what do you think?

How hard is it to replace the motherboard on a laptop? If you havent done it before would you try or not? does anyone know of any guides I could use? its a s6120 fujistu laptop can anyone help me find a guide?

I had never replaced a keyboard on laptop and that was not difficult at all courtesy of a guide I found online...would you say I should have a go?

please continue to help and advise

Your efforts are most appreciated

Cheers
