evening peeps!

after having PC issues and finally putting them to bed its my laptops turn to do it

this is my laptop

Acer Aspire S3 MS2346

http://www.itp.net/587066-acer-aspir...2346?tab=specs

Currently experiencing problems as regard displaying nothing but white screen, upon pressing the power button black bios screen displays then quickly shows the windows symbol (now running windows10 btw) soon as windows should kick in screen goes white.

https://youtu.be/Pf0V4bUKJQo

Thought windows had died or hdd so tried to boot in to safe mode does same also when I try to get into bios main setup also white screen displays

I have tried external display and this is working fine also can hear lappy running fine and sounds too are fine.

Any thoughts?

As it stands Ive stripe the casing to check for lose cables/connectors but everything seems in place. Might for the first time in my life pay somebody to repair it FML

*PS That's my very nosey 2yr old in the video and the reason its broke :D

hey man, can you download a live cd of another os like mint/ubuntu etc and just see how that goes, your screen seems fine (you're getting the splash screen). If that works then recover the important things from the hard drive and do a clean install. There are a few malware programs that cause this so hopefully its just something as simple a an exe starting up from login and nothing hardware related.

Ty for reply, the lappy doesn't have a cd drive so im stuck there.

Also my laptop is running and working fine via external monitor tried it on my TV via HDMI.

Still think its possible it could be OS? I think I might have a spare SSD so it could be worth to try it not sure how id install windows with no drive.

OK cool, you could make a bootable pen drive with something like Universal USB Installer, or if you can get to the system restore then you can see if you can go back far enough where this wasnt a problem.

You really got me thinking now, you think it could be something like a corrupt display driver or windows issue.

I would imagine the HDMI output would be a stand alone driver or abit more simplified driver/function.

Maybe there's a chance that the screen side is gone but hdmi output side is separate and running fine

You are still getting the splash screen with the windows logo displaying on the laptop monitor though which is why im thinking it could be some rogue exe file causing this after login. If the screen was borked it would be white from boot not just after a certain point.

its very un-usual fault but I have a few things to try this evening tbh before im into spending coin.

Prob start with a full reboot then try a HDD and clean install.

Its been like this for months but if I remember correctly the OH did the windows10 update and it was shortly after that its done it

Cool, if its what I think it is then a fresh install will fix it. I can't see it being a problem you need to solve with mohnay

ok currently this evening ive been looking at driver issues and windows10 possible errors.

best solution was to go for a windows10 updates which non had been done yet seems there was a major update which I carried out.

after the lengthy download it was ready, restarted and bios and windows symbol displayed but then this screen http://imgur.com/pyy0UFt was display went white again.

For some odd reason at around 95% my laptop display decided to kick in and for a moment I thought I was getting some where but it prompted a restart and it didn't display again other than the bios/windows symbol.

Next was to update the video drivers now I tried this twice once before windows update and once after.

I recorded the video here so sorry for the length https://youtu.be/wsFDapjF-5o

as you can see this seems to be working in a way but noting permanent.

The first time I did it, the screen was kinda flicking or dimming up and down what quiet bizarre.

any thoughts upto now?

The laptop panel has an interface board along the rear bottom of it, swapping it with another panel solved the issue for me, I have access to spares to try though due to the nature of my job.

In another instance, a laptop screen would go black after the windows logo, that one was solved with a bios update.

tried windows7 fresh install this morning and more of the same, getting towards the end of the install the screen kicked in and seemed again to be reacting.

Got to the language select and seemed ok but got to the serial input died again went white, non the less I carried on and restarted screen kicked in once again but still seemed to be flickering then died after a few mins.

Totally baffling tbh

maybe I missed this , but does problem start predictably a particular time period after laptop is started from cold, if so then that re-enforces panel could be the issue
[when using external screen if you disable the internal screen , so external is the only primary display and then after a while try and switch it back - does it work for a while]
I installed a 1080p screen in a hd laptop, also replacing lvds cable (that passes through hinge - could that be your issue) but since doing that the hybrid graphics have to be disabled in the bios, otherwise after boot i have a black screen.
However your failure even at bios screen or safe mode, sounds like panel, presumably you have no guarantee recourse.
make sure seller is giving you a genuine part too.

It does the same fault from hot or cold.

Actually went into the main bios settings this morning to check settings and fault occurred there also which is odd as the intial black bios screen displays fine and then the windows boot logo also.

Was starting to think its certain colours that could be causing the error but windows7 load screen is a bit more complex and displays fine.

Weird how tinkering with the drivers seemed too work, but a fresh install and no drivers installed I thought that might do it.

its just gotta be hardware for me.

found that on ebay screen and panel complete it looks like which its likely to be one or the other as suggested.

Just paying that money and it doesn't work arghh

I cannot find the program in my downloads now, but I did have something that told you screen hardware identification without having to take it out, but cannot seem to find it now - anyone else

even if they match the laptop model # screen maybe not the same and inferior

Hello

I am afraid we cannot guarantee the exact part number that you will received.

xxxx,
Hi, we had a conversation earlier/4:30pm about LCD panels your company sells; your advertising
say you may ship a compatible part and I would like to know specifically what part I would receive.

I am interested in purchasing one of these two screens
