Hi folks,
I'm on the lookout for an upgrade to my existing laptop, a Toshiba i7 Q740 @ 1.73Ghz with 250Gb ssd which has served me well for 3 years but it's time to retire it, after it took 36 hours to batch process 6,000 raw image files using Photoshop CC for a solar eclipse timelapse sequence.
A realistic budget would be around £1500. I keep looking at high end 'gaming' laptops for the cpu power and ssd's but in all honesty I don't play games anymore (I'm way too old lol) so I think I would be better off spending more on high speed storage for local image processing with maybe a second drive for temporary image storage rather than out and out graphics performance unless the gpu can supplement the cpu when number crunching? I would definately like a IPS display which is at least 1920x1080 or higher on a screen size around 15" or larger.
Any thoughts or practical advice would be more than welcome
regards
