Can anyone please help and tell me what laptop spec I need :) I want to run games like Amnesia Dark Descent, The Next Big Thing, Black Mirror 3, Machinarium, Gray Matter, Runaway series, Overclocked and all those type of games? Nothing FPS, just point and click. I have all these running on my desktop, but it's hard to know what laptop to buy that would run them well. I'm currently looking at a second hand £160 HP 6910p with Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.00GHz, 2GB ram (* correction, 4GB) and I think it has Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics. Here's the system requirements for 2 games, and these requirements are probably the upper limit for point and clicks. Do you think the HP6910p would cut it? Btw, already posted about laptops in the laptop forum, but no replies in 4 days so thought I'd try here.

Next Big Thing
Pentium D 2.8GHz
Athlon LE-1600
GeForce 7800 GT
Radeon X800 XT
RAM (Memory)2 GB
Hard Disk Space 8 GB
Direct X9

Amnesia
OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
Processor: 2.0Ghz (?)
Memory: 2048MB
Disc Space: 3GB
Video Card: Radeon X1000/GF 6 (?

I'd get something with a regular 4:3 or 16:10/9 resolution. My ex's netbook refused to run the Cthulhu game, amongst others, and the only thing I could think of was the resolution was screwing with it.

I may be talking rubbish though.

And you forgot Monkey Island? Get out!

Heh, Monkey Island series was great but the runaway series pretty much replaced those with similar humour and gameplay.

That HP laptop is WXGA Widescreen 1280 x 800, wouldn't that mean it's 16:9?

No, but you're asking how well it will run...I don't think being a shooter or not has any say in that.

Ok, well amnesia requires Radeon X1000/GF 6 graphics card, so it's down to whether the Intel GMA X3100 is capable enough to run it.

I think an AMD based laptop would be a better option in this case. IIRC power isn't the only problem when it comes to Intel integrated graphics, they just don't support things some games require.

Cool, thanks, I'll aim towards finding an AMD based laptop then, dual core I suppose. Yeah, I've decided to stay away from integrated graphics. I need a proper dedicated card, something at least equivalent to GeForce 7800 GT, Radeon X800 XT, Radeon X1000/GF 6, which are the requirements for the more demanding games I'll be playing, ie, the next big thing and amnesia.
