now i have a good enough laptop and i installed bf42 to my suprise it works a treat and was just wondering what other games can be played on laptops (without the sli or fancy cpus) what modern(ish) games do u play on your lappy :p

so far managed bf42 and c&c generals shocked by both tbh i might add before people start calling me names that there not on max res both on 800*600 :)

Eve and WoW both play ok on mine, which is a pretty crappy Dell inspiron. Wouldn't like to try any large scale battles in Eve, but it works.

I play Counter-Strike: Source on my Sony VIAO. :)

EDIT: Was playing BF2142 the other day too.

all of em work fine on my laptop. oblivion etc...
Ill prolly upgrade the memory, cpu at some point (upgrading graphics isnt really possible at the moment so i dunno)
though i was playing bg2 yesterday and the program crashed on the beginning of chapter 2 grrrrr

How would a 1.6 core2duo 2gb ram, with 128mb shared memory handle bf2142?

It really all depends on the GPU you have, I have a Acer Inspire with a T2300, 1gb of ram and a 7600. I managed to get Oblivion to run on it with a few tweaks.

as for the OP apart from FPS which generally require smooth framerates, RTS and RPG's would be my suggestion. Nothing beats playing D2 for 7 hours straight on a long haul flight :D

I've been playing BF2, Farcry and LFS on all high with some AA and AF with very nice FPS.

I have a Dell Inspiron with a 2.0Ghz, T7200 CPU, 2GB RAM, 7900GS card. It's very smooth and I love it. :D

cheers guys the reason i ask that asus has just been putting this together external gpu for lappys should be good just hope ocuk gets these in its called the asus xg station

I never knew something lik that will be out~

I wonder how it'll work compared to a standard PCI-E card in a Desktop... would be nice to play some higher demand games on my MacBook... (eventho I'm only really playing Postal 2 OS X version) :)

Edit: :(:(:( An Express Card connector is needed! Damn~!

i believe its the pc slots that its connected to which most lappys have :) its not that big sleepery

Your better off buying a new laptop tbh, not much point in having a laptop if you have to carry loads of things around with it.

Even laptops with 1gig of ram, core duo and and x1600 256mb cost less than £660 for decent makes like hp.

Nah I've seen a pic of it, it's basically a pci-x slot in a box. Big enough compared to the laptop itself.

The whole point of having that kit is to leave it at home on your desk - come back home to game, bring laptop out to work...

My laptop has 2GHz, 1Gb RAM and ATI x700 256mb. Plays bf2142 fine.
