Im looking at getting a new laptop in the next week or two through the home computer initiative(tax free through work). Ive been looking at the approved supplier and im a bit stuck on how the graphics cards scale in terms of performance. I know that top end machines will use Go7800 and the X1800mobile but the machines I have the option of aren't that high spec. The choices are ATI X1400, X600 or mobility M200. The only Nvidia card seems to be the Go6600 although they do have one machine with the Go6800 but its not a good manufacturer so is out of the question for me.

Do any of you guys know how well these chipsets perform and maybe know where I can find a comparison of them? Ive had a look around a cant seem to come up with anything.

From the sounds of it the X600 will perform on par with a desktop 9600pro (my laptop has a 9700 pro mobility and it can play most new games at decent settings).

The X1400 I would have thought is the mobile version of the x1300 (seems odd for the name change though).

The mobility M200 is basically just a integrated chipset not that good for gaming.

The Go6600 is basically a 6600 but in a latop so probably the fastest out of all of them.

I've had a go on a Laptop wit a Geforce Go6600 and I was very impressed, very good card, especially if thats in a high end laptop with say a 3 ghz cpu.
