Laptop Hard Drive question...

I need to replace a HD in a mates PB EasyNote C3300 laptop.
Are laptop hard drives pretty much generic like desktops or do I need to find the original model as a replacement?

Generic, just get the same physical size (height) and check your BIOS supports that capacity hard drive. No problem upgrading Toshiba 40GB to 80GB and a Acer 20GB to 60GB drives.

should be generic

As mentioned just check the size before ordering, I beleive there are two or three different heights of Laptop drives (they are all the same length/width but can vary in height).
