i have a laptop which is a HP omnibook XE4100 and it has a 30gb hdd i would like to put a bigger hdd in it.How easy is it to replace the harddrives in laptops? and also do some laptops only support curtain size hdds.I was also thinking about getting a dvdrw drive for it but is that also possible to change dvd drives in laptops?

Laptop HDDs are easier to change than laptop optical drives, the HDDs are a standard size and interface but the optical drives aren't.

It looks like the XE4100 takes a standard 2.5" IDE laptop HDD so it's just a case of making sure that the new one is the same physical height as the old one so that it fits in the slot. There are detailed instructions on how to do it in the Reference Manual for the machine, you can download a copy from HP if you don't have a hard copy.
