OK, my laptop started making groaning noises and giving BSOD's, suspected it was the HD so took it out and booted from a Linux CD, all was stable again, so it must be the HD.
Plugged the HD back in, and managed to save the important data between crashes, but I'm looking at a replacement 2.5 inch laptop drive and they don't seem to be cheap, current drive is a 40gb 4200RPM drive, would like something of bigger capacity and RPM speed, don't think OcUK do lappie drives and i know mentioning a competitor source is a no go.
What I was wondering, could it be possible to buy a laptop connection converter and use a regular desktop 3.5 inch HD in some sort of enclosure beside the laptop? This laptop is on an over bed table in my bedroom and goes nowhere, so no worries about portability. The laptop has no option to boot from USB, so an external USB drive is no use, can only boot from HD/CD-DVD/ Lan.
Anyone?
