One of my freind think of buying a laptop, just for basic uses, without any particular heavy application. I advise him do not care about the CPU, look for the cheapest that has 7200 rpm hdd as it seems to me, hdd in laptop and desktyop also is the bottleneck. He then suggested that hdd with faster movement is easier to be broken in a mobile environment like laptop. Consider laptop is a big investment for him, which argument is more plausible.

Althought nor completely relevant, the external hdd always have less warranty time than internal one.Laptop itself tends to have less warranty time than desktop. Unstability does reduce the life time of computer components, not to mention hdd.
