I ahve just come back from a holiday in California and found that my mum has had something go wrong with her laptop which I am in the middle of trying to fix.

I want to perform the system recovery on her Sony VAIO laptop but first need to back everything up.

I was initially intending to just manually copy everything onto an external HDD but as the computer seems to blue screen randomly, I don;t think that is the best of ideas now.

Could I easily remove the HDD from inside the laptop and insert it into the enclosure of my portable HDD which also uses the internal sata connection and plug it into my own desktop system and perform the backup on there?

Would this work as the drive has a couple of partitions on it?

Is the HDD easily removed from the VAIO?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil
