I'm looking to upgrade my laptop HDD in a week or two and I was hoping to get some options. I currently have a Hitachi DK23FB which is a 40GB 5400 RPM drive in my laptop and I'm hoping to double it at least, maybe get a 100GB. If it makes any difference I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 which uses the Intel Odem i855PM chipset. So what do you recommend? I'd prefer speed over battery life as I don't go mobile with it as much any more.
Cheers in advance.

Is your current drive SATA or IDE?

Without using google for any infomation It is easy to tell by the age of the chipset and machine that it is IDE.

From OCUK, this seems like a good choice.

There is a 100gb version.

If you look around on the net you might be able to find various 100gb 7200rpm drives for slightly less.
