Laptop Key Missing

So I was nice enough to let my younger sister use my Asus G1S A1 laptop to do her work for 6 months. I come back from university to find that she had left it unattended and a baby had ripped one of the keys off! Luckily it's not a key that you would often use on this keyboard. Also, the space bar is a little funny but I have gotten use to it.

What I want to know is how do I get a replacement key? The laptop was purchased December 2007 so is out of it's one year warranty. I called ASUS to ask them how much they would charge to replace the one key. They said since it's out of warranty, they would charge to even take a LOOK at it (£35 shipping each way, so a total of £70). But when they found out it's out of warranty, they told me they would charge a bomb to repair it. They told me to call *competitor*, where I originally bought the laptop. I rang *competitor* and asked them about the key. They told me they could not do anything over the phone, and that I would visit a *competitor* Store and that they could order the key for me.

So I got my self down to *competitor*. The bloke on the other side of the counter tells me that they would not do anything for me since the laptop is out of warranty. He said he had never ordered one key before, and that he would only order a keyboard for me. He quoted me £200.00+ to replace the keyboard (which remember, is all for the sake of one missing key).

So now I am furious and stuck without this one key for this laptop. I only want this one key so I can sell this laptop as I no longer have a need for a gaming laptop. The reason I want this key so badly is because I know having it will increase it's value.

Can anyone please help?

Regards,

Farore

Competitor alert!

Can ou not go and look at the ones in that shop and see f any of the keys are loose? Perhaps a Spares or Repairs somewhere?
