Hi

My friend has a laptop(finding out make/model as we speak). He managed to enter his bios password at the very start of the computer loading a few times too many...wrongly. I said i would have a look tommorow night. What is *** way to attack this ? Remove the battery and try find a cmos battery and some jumpers ? Its a password set to stop the operating system loading from how he describes it.

Any help would be great

Bit of a funny subject this,

iirc if the laptop is a IBM you have no chance of removing the password using the battery trick, also modern laptops retain the password regardless if the battery has being removed, I guess its just worth to try if not you will have to find somebody who can reprogram/replace bios chips.


Edit/ And thats if you can even get to the battery :p
