Laptop numberpad yay or nay

I use a tkl keyboard on desktop and would prefer laptops all use standard tkl layout. Laptop keyboard layouts are all manufacturer-specific abominations and it puts me off having a personal laptop.

Rather have them than not, but recent laptop I got doesn't have them and so far not really missing them yet. Other laptop has them and I do find myself using them when there but depends on your typing style really and the placement/size of the keys on the laptop.

depends on the laptops use, is it desktop replacement or portable? I usually have 14" ones so no numberpad but occasionally have it on a docking station with keyboard and mouse

I cant remember ever having a numberpad on a laptop....

Both of my main ones have a numpad - more than 2/3rd of my previous ones have. On my 17" it is a full numpad block distinct from the other keys.

I'd rather have it than not personally though not a deal breaker for a large amount of my laptop use.

To be fair only ever had a few. Current work Thinkpad doesnt have one, macbook pro didnt and surface pro didnt.

But we usually had docking stations and full keyboard/mouse anyway.

None of the work issue IBMs or Compaqs, etc. have ever had them that I can remember oddly - I guess because they are designed around docking.
