It looks like my laptop is dead and it’s time to replace it, but with what?

I mainly use a desktop pc but had a laptop at the side of me when watching tv etc. so that I could do a quick web search, read emails etc. I am thinking a Galaxy Tab 9+ 0r 10+ would be plenty big enough for the job or would a simpler 10+ FE do just as well? Don't need it for games just a bit of Office work, surfing etc.

bit of a late reply to this one but ive only just got back on the forums. Ive gone through a bit of a switchover at the moment as i used to solely use a samsung galaxy tab s9 but decided to switch over to a second hand thinkpad x1 yoga. price wise its essentially a straight swap as i got the yoga for a good price that i can easily sell my s9 for. id say it was absolutley worth going for a cheap laptop as a replacement as its far more versatile. the only real trade offs are the battery life (only by an hour or 2 though as the yoga can stretch to 5hrs in the right scenario.) and the extra bulk.

when it comes to your office work, having that keyboard on hand all the time is key. the s9 i have has the official keyboard folio but its a bit of a faff in all honesty. dont get me wrong though. i love the s9 but grabbing a yoga is now far more useful to me in my use case and can do a lot more with it. (running cachyos on it and its been amazing as a linux first timer).

i started to realise that anything i can do on the tablet, i can just do on my phone anyways and the only difference was the screen size. having the laptop on hand comes in more useful in so many other scenarios (i run a desktop pc as well so if that ***** the bed then i have the laptop as a backup). plus side on the yoga, parts are easy to come by, and most are nicely upgradeable.

Surface Pro? Windows and quick resume. Best of both worlds?
I use an SP7 myself for personal browsing/streaming my Virgin media/Sky Sports channels). I use an HP Zbook Power laptop for work, Galaxy S24 Ultra for a bit of everything esp while abroad working.
My gaming pc usually only for Warzone etc and occasional browsing. The Surface Pro still comes in useful and slots into my kit lineup in so many way.
