LAPTOP PARTMGR.SYS ERROR

I have an old laptop that comes up with no operating system when loading from boot up. When I try and reinstall the OS it comes up with a blue screen of death with an error about the partmgr.sys.

Any suggestions?

I have sent off for a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor so that I can check out the HD on the main computer but was after any helpful advise on this.

New HD or do you think I will be able to format it and reinstall?

General consensus from googling is that the partitions are corrupted.

Have you tried deleting your partitions and starting again?
