Hi all, hopefully someone will be able to diagnose my problem lol A friend gave me his laptop to have a look at as he hadn't been able to turn in on for months. I found that the power port was broken and needed soldering back to the mobo, which i did (badly). No when its charging there is a strange "ticking" noise every second or so, "tick...tick...tick" (see, now you know exactly how it sounds 
) Any ideas?
EDIT: Just found out that the battery isnt holding charge
May have another go at soldering tomorrow, it's a bit of a pain though as i can't get the mobo out
