Hello all,

I have a Lennovo G580, I changed the screen and now when i boot it up the CPU fan spins for a few sec and then a little popping noise happens and its shuts down.

Any ideas whats wrong?

I have checked the RAM, Hard Drive and All the cables.

Did you remove the battery when you changed the screen.
The popping sound is likely a capacitor or something on the motherboard, impossible to know really. Sounds like it is short circuiting.

What happens if you put the old screen back?

Or if the old screen is broken remove the new one and connect and external display if possible.

It is likely you have blown something on the motherboard then. If you don't take the battery out there is still "life" in the motherboard and if you just unplug the old screen and put the new one in, it causes a short circuit.

Back when I first started in IT in a little repair shop, I did the same thing. Didn't take the battery out and it blew the motherboard, cost me a few months of working to pay my manager back who had to replace the laptop for the customer.

Sorry to tell you but I think its knackered, you can try connect it to an external display and check that, put the old screen back in (TAKE THE BATTERY OUT!) and see if its maybe the new screen that's causing an issue (this does happen with non OEM)
