My Nan has decided that she wants to buy a laptop so i offered to get one sorted out for her INCLUDING a wireless router so she can sit down anywhere in the house and use the Laptop.

She'll only be using the laptop for literally browsing the internet so no high spec laptops needed, however I dont want a really slow one for her. She wants to spend no more than £500.

Also are there any wireless routers you could recommend as well as the laptop.

Comments appreciated.

Thanks

You could have posted in there rather than here, thats what its for :p.

Ah, im sorry I thought you were reffering to the new laptop section on the actual OCUK site, I didnt realise you meant laptop section in the forum :)

Ill move it over there then.

the acer aspire 5630 sereies are the best value for money you can get i think, i recently was laptop hunting and purchased one for under 500 :)

as a standard though look for core 2 duo, atleast 1gb if not 2gb of ddr2 ram and built in wifi :)

Do you need a wireless router or a wireless Access Point? If you just need the access point then have a look at the Linksys WAP54G. I have one its cheap and does a great job.

Access point is where its just wireless and you cant connect through ethernet right?

If so, i guess it wouldnt really matter, she wont need to connect through an ethernet cable but through wireless.

Are the access points cheaper than the routers?
