Hoping for some advice on a laptop purchase for my wife. I have no clue about them as have never owned one so thought maybe someone here could give me a few pointers.

It'll be used for browsing, word processing & gaming is not essential at all on it.

A 17" screen would be preferred, wireless connection.

Budget is cheap is good, as there's no need for an expensive setup here due to uses but at the same time would prefer decent quality machine. Say £400 max, I'm sure there's something below that price that will be sufficent. Any help appreciated.

Dell vostro 1700 for £352 you get :

Intel® Celeron® Processor 550 (2.00 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2-cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Basic
LCD 17.0" Widescreen WXGA+ (1440x900) TFT Display
INTEGRATED WEBCAM Matte Jet Black without Camera
MEMORY 1024MB (2x512) 667MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
HARD DRIVE 120GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
GRAPHICS CARD 128MB nVidia® GeForce® 8400M GS
OPTICAL DRIVE Fixed Internal 8x DVD/24x CDRW Combo Drive
PRIMARY BATTERY Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)
Dell™ Wireless 1395 (802.11 b/g) MiniPCI Card

i know you said you didnt need the graphics but an 8400M GS has gotta be better than integrated intel.

Thanks Breezy thats great. She's out shopping at the minute & told her to call in to a shop when she was out to see if she needed a 17" screen in case it was too big or too heavy but I see there's a vostro 1500 series as well. Thanks again for your help.
