Hi there, please can you help me, this post is for my mother, she has a fairly new laptop, few months old, and she fell asleep with the laptop and managed to break the screen. It has a big crack right down the middle of it and so we want to purchase a brand new screen.

Would you know how I find the screen model number? Or have any advice on how to purchase the specific screen needed for this particular laptop

The laptop's name and model number is:

HP Compaq Presario CQ61
Product Number = WE089EA#ABU

Thanks in advance. :(:)

Best bet is to remove the current screen and get the exact part number for it as I think that model had both LCD and LED screens. If you are unsure on removing the screen let me know.

Does it have to be the exact screen or can I go on ebay and buy any screen and it will work as long as it's the same size? I don't know anything about laptops but I usually build PC's.

I've found a guide online which shows me how to take the screen apart but I'm stuck already because part of the bezel at the bottom wont seem to come off, I'm kinda thinking I'm going to have to open the bottom half of the laptop as well to remove the screen entirely by separating it from the keyboard part of the laptop and then trying to take the bezel off maybe, or am I wrong?

Cheers for help.

Plenty of bezels seem like they are stuck but they are just really stiff/held on with adhesive tape, so if you can put something thin in and slid across to see if you can release it would be a good idea.

If you have followed the guide as it is then I would assume you have removed all screws and that's not what is causing the problem.

I have to admit it's usually easier removing a bezel when it's completely free of the laptop chassis. Do you have a link to this guide?

You can just about get the bottom screws out on this model, fully open the screen and take the bottom two screws out on the bezel with a thin number 0 screwdriver, then ease the bezel off by going round the edges with guitar pick or something similar.

I just found this guide to go by but it's not specific for my laptop, I wonder if theres a guide for this particular laptop?

I've worked it out now after finding this youtube video, there's two screws in bottom corners that I need to take out in order to release the bezel, I thought something was up because the rest of the bezel came off easily. I reckon I'll be able to do it no problem now.

This is the video, it's almost the exact same model as mine, next one up.

Ok I've finally done it, think it took me probably over 2 hours lol.

These are all the codes I have on the back of the screen:

YFB9CJ73S8WJQ0793C2
CT:CARKB027CYDW5U
LP156WH1 (TL) (A3)
FACTORY ID:LGDNJ
6091L-0793C 091218 J8W

Thanks in advance! :confused::)

EDIT: I just copied pasted all those codes into google to see if it found anything, it found nothing for the first two and then the 3rd code it found:

LG PHILIPS LP156WH1 TL-A3 LAPTOP LCD SCREEN £49.99

That must be it? If so, I'm happy with that, I was hoping for no more then £50. Do you think I defo got the right one?

Cheers.:D
