A friend of mine has asked me to take a look at his laptop as it was supposedly crashing and was slow in general.

After creating a backup of the data and reinstalling Windows 7 H/P 64BIT & updating to the latest drivers I began to install the Windows updates.
Once .NET Framework 4.5.1 was installed the PC would crash and then shutdown. After coming back up I checked the event viewer to see what had actually caused the shutdown and found 3 errors that read 'the speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware'. After around 20-30 minuets the PC would shutdown again. I uninstalled .NET 4.5.1 and the crashing stopped. As a test I reinstalled 4.5.1 and was getting the crashes again.

I was wondering if anyone has come across .Net4.5.1 causing this kind of error and if there was a fix ?

Overheating?

Might need the CPU fan replacing or new heat paste on the CPU cooler.

Test the temps
