I have one of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SCART-TO-3-RC...oryZ32837QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem?refid=store

and have connected it to my tv and the s-video to the back of my laptop. Does it need to be set to input or output? I select AV1/AV2 on the tv and tv output is recognised on the laptop but still there is no picture displayed. Just a plain blue AV screen.

I have had it working before and did a mod trick on the adapter with a bit of speaker wire connecting the 2 top holes together (this made it displayed colour instead of just black and white)

I'm pretty sure it will need to be set to input.
If you are getting a black and white picture it's because your TV needs to know that the av input is receiving an s-video signal.
When you press the av button on the TV remote, there might be some way of selecting (for example) AV2/S as opposed to just AV2.
Alternatively you will need to go into the menu and change it in the "connectivity" section or something.

I have one of these, it has a input/output switch on it, but from the laptop you'll need the scary adaptor then the vga > what ever port(s) are on the device.

It will have to be set tp input though.

VGA > what ever port??

At the moment I have an s video lead from the back of the laptop that goes into the scart apapter with the input/output switch on. This i plug into av1 on the tv.

The laptop recognises the tv source because it comes up on display properties. The TV shows a plain blue screen though.

I will try setting it to input tonight and selecting S-video on the tv instead of av1
