A friend of mine sent back a laptop as she was unable to view the light grey text on windows grey info and command boxes but a friend suggested that she should have tried tilting the lcd screen back as they have certain angles that are best for viewing the screen as she had it straight up vertical.

Is this true as she asked me but i couldn't help as i don't own a laptop and when i have used friends laptops it's only to browse so it's not something i've ever taken any notice of as web pages tend to be rendered in bold shades of colour.

thanks

It is true that laptop screens or TFTs have optimum viewing angles but unless you are sitting way to the side, above or below then you shouldn't have problems reading the text. It might be that the brightness was set too low though. :)
