Laptop + water = insurance?

Last night saw a bit of an accident with my laptop after my housemate kicked half a pint of water over the keyboard. Anyway, today neither the keyboard nor the trackpad work any more. The machine's a bit too old (2004) to get spares for so it seems I'm gonna claim on the insurance.

As I've never claimed on (contents) insurance before, is there anything I need to do / look out for / etc in order to get enough £££ to get a replacement? The insurance we've got (with Norwich Union) includes accidental damage and electonic toys etc.

My friend poured his drink over his laptop. He got it working again by taking all the components out including mobo, and putting everything on the radiator to dry for a couple of days then reassembling it.

Can't give any advice on the insurance but I spilt a full glass of water on my laptop I took every thing apart and it seemed like not much water got passed the keyboard/silver foil infact the ram and cpu and every thing on the underside was dry. Laptop never turned back on though.

I accidentaly dropped my old TIME laptop and got a brand new Sony Vaio from the insurance a few years back

My tip would be not to settle for their first offer as it will probably be cheap n nasty

And to top it off, the accidental damage that we have is the wrong kind of accidental damage. We've covered for computers, TVs, VCRs, sound systems etc...but not portable computers. Sc-ore.
