Laptop wifi issues with multiple networks

Hello,

I have a problem that has been driving me crazy for ages, my laptop can only properly work with wifi ( as in quickly connect and work as it should and stay stable) if I connect to two different wifi networks at most in a certain timespan ( no idea how long that timespan is though).

If I use a third ( I have more networks saved, but if I actually USE more than 2 in a short timespan), the third connection will start giving problems, like being connected but not receiving any packets ( despite having an IP), randomly cutting the connection off ( but saying it's connected, even though I can't ping the router/AP) and actually needing to disable the wlan adapter and re-enabling it.

I have tried various drivers and all give the same behavior.

I have tried manual IP settings, also no different from using dhcp...

I'm running windows 7 x64 with a Qualcomm Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter...

I use wlan at 4 places :

Home
Uni ( eduroam)
Work
Mum's place

These are all different types of AP's, authentications, etc... All networks have been saved and put in the correct categories ( eg. work = work network, my own and mums place = ''home network'' and uni = public network.

If I use it at more than 2 places in a short timespan, the 3rd will give problems. It doesn't matter which places, if I got both to uni and work in one day, I will have problems with wifi at home, but if I only go to uni or work, wifi works fine later when home, like it should, at all times. If I don't go to uni or work for a while I'm completely free of any connection problems.

Anyone have something similar, I'd completely at a loss what is causing these problems. A reboot or turning the wifi adapter on and off a few times always fixes it, but it annoys me as I have to spend a few minutes getting wifi to work every time I go to more that 2 places with my lappy...

It's only the laptop that gives these problems, my S4 is absolutely fine with all these wifi changes, and any other devices show no problems when my laptop does.

EDIT: To add, I have also had a clean win8 install for a couple of months in the past to try it out, and also had other vague wifi problems there, especially conecting to eduroam was tiresome and took like 5-10 tries and re-entering my student login before finally connecting, and it lost my login credentials ( or asked for em anyhow) every bloody time...

If you think it's the adapter, drivers don't sort it and neither does a fresh install..

Sounds like you've tried everything.

I'd open up the laptop and find out what size the wifi card is, then just buy an Intel one or another model. They're very cheap on the auction site.

If you post what size yours is, I'd send you one for free if I've got one that fits.

They're typically near the ram slot and easy to remove, usually secured with one screw and they slot in kind of like a ram stick.

I'll check this weekend, I've replaced many things on this laptop ( cpu, ram, ssd, keyboard) and had the wifi adapter out before so no biggie.

I guess trying a new wifi adapter is the next step, I could try with a usb one for testing! I have some laying about.
