Large amount of data over multiple dvd's

Hi all

I have done a quick search for this but haven't been able to find any answers.

What I am after is a program that will let me put an 18gb rar file across a number of dvd's, and also, when the first dvd is put into a machine (once the data is on the dvd's), there is a way to extract the data by say clicking on a self extractable exe and then it will copy the data to the pc?

I remeber seeing something along time ago, try looking for something like "splitting archives".

Winrar (or 7zip) to split large archives over 4.5Gb parts (or much smaller really i guess). Then use quick par to make to par files which can repair broken archives in the case of dodgy media

. Essentially usenet on a DVD

Yea that was it, I was working with 7zip files.

Winrar can split archives just like 7zip can, 7zip can do everything winrar can do for free except create rar files (as they're proprietary).

You can split the .rar file into 6 parts (might take a while), each one will be 3gig each, then pop them each onto dvds.

Best hope none of them get corrupted though!
