im moving from an old windows xp media server to 1 using windows 8 and newer hardware

what are the options for larger drives?

will i still have to use hitachi gpt? or is there something better to get a large drive recognised as 1 big partition

other question
my current 3tb was formatted into 1 large drive using gpt, will it be possible to swap it from my old computer to the new one without reformatting

if yes will new computer automatically pick it up as the 1 large drive or will i need to do something to it

almost feels like it would just be easier to use a greater quantity of 2tb drives

For anything over 2TB, you will need a GPT partition, yes.

You should be able to plug your existing drive into your new machine and that will recognise the GPT partition and give it a drive letter.
