Large Hadron Collider

Apparently some Greek hackers, GST, have "attacked" the CERN site.

Idiots! Don't they have anything better to do?

Sadly no...

Infact by them hacking, they could theoretically damage a piece of kit, without the scientists knowing, and causing even more harm and concern to outsiders.

Theres no telling what could happen if something wasent working correctly.

Say the parts of the system that catch the beams when they go AWOL? Maybe they have some kind of computer function, and aren't just big walls? What if they wern't running correctly and one of the beams got out? No one knows for certain, hence why they built the defence for it.

Sad really, but I still don't know why the MAIN parts of the system, are even accessible from the outside world...it should be a closed circuit...Then a seperate network for the systems.

The detectors have to be linked to the internet, because that is how they distribute all the data that they collect, so that it can be analysed by computers all over the world. I think it is only the detectors that are connected, the rest of the system is all on its own.

So the huge server room they have is pointless then? :p Deary me :)

At Last! I have maxed out crysis :D
