"Mini Sputniks" -- cute. :p

Thanks for the link. :) I wish I could stream the beeb here.
wow, there is some funny stuff on there. I love the "just another day in the world of super-science" humour. :D

I for some reason have this streaming: mms://qstream-live.qbrick.com/00862live80910

It was posted a page or two back.
Saw that, thanks. Can't access from work, though.

they actually start the thing at 9 this evenin i thought...if not then it isnt till 21st october that we will get enough energy to make black holes tbh.

Here you go :)
1234pm (BST) FROM Roland Pease, BBC Radio Science, in central control room

Steve Myers, head of the accelerator department, confided that today's protons were not the first things to circulate in the LHC. While preparing the machine they sent smart "pingpong" balls through, to make sure the pipes were clear and the sensors working. When one of these mini-Sputniks got stuck, they had to fire in a second to knock it free.

People who try and mask science with god just puzzle me.
So do all these religious emo kids "satan told me to do it" well you have to believe in god to believe in satan.
Besides the point though.

Anyway, we're still alive, but the collider is only on "low" at the moment, wait till they crank that mother up.

I am more certain that the LHC will not kill us all, than I am of suddenly powering on my PC and australia turning into a huge strawberry muffin.
