I have this…

Got for £30 a year or two ago and it’s been great. Specs have it as being every bit as accurate as the Dewalt one that’s over £100.

Battery life is good, accuracy is good and it connects to a tripod and also has a really strong magnetic mount too. For the money I can’t fault it.

also have this and can confirm its a great bit of kit.

Speaking of lasers, what's a good reasonably priced laser measure?

What rough distances? indoor or outdoor?

I have a stanley one which is good for indoor to 10-15 meters with a red beam.
It can’t measure outdoors as it’s beam is not bright enough.

Only indoors, nothing over 30m.

~£50 seems to be either

or

Both seem muchly the same.

I bought one of the Huepar ones after looking at this thread, and have paired it with a tripod I already have from a cheapo telescope.

Successfully used it to hang a picture. Although I do wonder whether I used it right. The line I needed was higher than the tripod will go, so I don't think I could use the self-levelling, as I required the unit to be tilted upwards to project at the right height. So I had to resort to using a spirit level on the top of the unit to gauge left-right level and then lock it in place. Then I used the level again against the line projected on the wall, just to ensure it hadn't moved while I was locking it in place.

It worked fine, but I can't help feeling there was likely a better way of doing it. So what is the 'correct' method when you need the line high up?

This...

I had the same issue when I was trying to hang pictures.

I ended up balancing the tripod, which the laser level was attached to, on top of 6 tins of tuna.

I'm sure this is how the professionals do it!

Don’t forget to get a tripod (or check they’re compatible with your tripod, if you have one)! They need to be within 2-3 degrees of flat in order to work. You can’t just pop them on a ladder step or a stack of books etc.
Hummm I’ve never had this problem… that’s seems like a really small amount…

Saying that… I was all ready to come here and recommend my “cheap” solution but turns out my Amazon order history shows it cost £109 in 2018

This is exactly the kind of thing I’d try and find much cheaper but looking at my returns I didn’t have much success with the alternatives at the time…

Which one was it

I stuck with the Tacklife 30m SC-L04 but I can’t find it anywhere to link to. Even the Amazon link in my basket says “oops can’t find this”

Ones that failed me were a Bosch and a RockSeed one, both again with links that fail to work - but it was the end of 2017/2018 that I bought them so not sure I’d expect y sepcific versions to exist
