I just got a 2nd hand HP laserjet 4l. It prints well apart from the paper is curling quite badly. Is there anything I can do about that? Will paper type make any difference? I have just tried the paper that came with it so far but have seen paper that claims to be for laser printers.

thanks

we have this where I used to work, i find as soon as they are printed turning the pages the other way up normally help, preferably why they are still warm.

Paper does make a difference. For starters, make sure it's paper which is happy with laser.
If you look at the end of the ream packaging before you put it into the printer, it should have an arrow for the direction to put it into the printer.

Crummy paper is the root of your problems. Go up a little in weight, and your problems will largely disappear :)
The temperature of the printer also affects things to some extent- If you're printing for hours on end, then you will get more paper curl as the printer gets hotter. (Try printing 40,000 double-sides of A4 on a cheap Brother, with no duplex to boot- Not fun!)

the paper should be 80 gsm even supermarket a4 reams should be fine but really cheap paper is almost certainly your problem.

Go for 90 or 100gsm. Slightly thicker but far better quality. Don't go for tesco's bargain offer stuff either, spend a fiver or so on some nice conqueror or character paper.
