Last Minute SFF AM4 build check!

Cool at least you got a decent cooler , thinking back I think it was me that recommend it. :D

Just look to undervolting the 5700x if your not happy with temps.

Look forward to a pick or 2.
yeah i think it was you who recommened it micky, though tbh, i've been talking about things on quite a few post recently.

Anyway thanks for your reccomendations and everything else :)

You can't loose wether it's CAS 16 or 18, my mate bought the 18 stuff and yeah real world I'd HIGHLY doubt either of us can tell. I went from 3600mhz to 3200mhz and couldn't either!
bought it all tonight Ram, Processor, Mobo...now my wallet aches.

cool thanks, looking forward to building it over christmas! be sure to look out for more stupid numpty tech posts from me soon :)

this build does give me options, its not top of the line £600 - £700 for new build excluding the GPU wont get you much. it's a SFF pc, they are more pricey but i think with all things considered i think the final list had better specs for a few extra pennies. it will also be great to have a quiet PC my 10 year old one at the moment is loud the CPU actually uses up 2 times as much power than the 5700x. Amazing to think how efficent things are now with lower pwr consumption.

i'd like to thank all those on this thread who chipped in with advice and suggestions, thank you all!

Final list

Ssupd Meshlicious Mini ITX Case - Full Mesh - Black - PCIE 3.0

Exactly my brother, FWIW, I was about do dump 2k on a new AM5 or X3D am4 setup, 7900xt or xtx, 64gb ram, the TLDR is I ended up with the setup in my sig and saved stupid money and it suits my needs fine, just do what works for you and don't feel pressured to always go next gen :)

I'm nothing compared to other vets on here, taken a step back to mess around with drifting and modifying old cars etc for many years, but if there's something you think I 'might' be able to help you with, feel free to ask anytime :)

Enjoy :)
Thanks Keef, you have been really helpful, i'll be sure to ask on here again probably soon. i know it may sound weird to people but ive always wanted a SFF PC of some kind and this one will tide me over as my main PC till later on next year. At the moment i find graphics cards for the content work I do (nvidia i am looking at you) rather a hard bullet to bite. With the 4090 prices rising faster than a spacex rocket i cant justify a £1800 AIB card, its a waste of money. 3 - 4 month ago they were £1600 . i may get a 4080 super if they review well with a price drop or a Ti if one happens later next year. However, i am not paying £1800 for one component, it is a inflated joke. AM5 in general also seems bloated with the likes of average motherboard price being still quite high so i totatly get what you mean with not dumping 2k on next gen when AM4 is older but the best value atm.

You're very welcome mate! Any time!

Haha, it's funny you say that, I was exactly the same! I love having a SFF and a mid tower for their own seperate purposes, having the Ryzentosh hackintosh MITX at the desk gives you so much room on the floor - I cant have anything on the desk as I have massive speakers next to my 32" monitor.
Yeah that's fair enough, I took a risk on a 4070 despite being an AMD man, and it does me fine, at worst I have to use dlaa/dlss/frame generation/reflex, but I'd rather that and have everything maxed out vs hitting a limit of a card. Considering they're only like £50 these days more than a 7800XT I don't think they're bad at all for the current market prices of gpu's tbh.

I'd recommend just doing what I did and trying out whatever you're unsure about, at worst you can return it and only loose some postage and an evening of your time? Nothing to loose?
Yeah that's why I didn't bother mate, I only built my main rig this year and finished it by 26th july, and yeah I was originally going to go 7900xtx/5800x3d or am5, and I thought this is just pointless I BET for 'what I want' it'll be fine doing something lesser, and it was and costs nothing to run/undervolts like a beast/runs silent on air cooling with cheap BeQuiet fans, my room isn't a suana and I ended up £600 better off. Win Win!

FWIW, I like the fact we're of the same mindset, less is more, sometimes ;)
Just do what works for you my brother :)
Actaully i have another question, is it worth me getting windows 11 with this or sticking to windows 10? Think i'd prefer 10 tbh

Ok hi all!

i have build the PC HOWEVER...i need your help.

everything is in an working fine, all except the WI-FI on this board. i am on my old PC right now. so far i am at a complete loss how to get this to work.
the Mobo say its Rev 1.3 on the board (Gigabyte AMD B550 AORUS B550I PRO AX WiFi), ive updated the WIFI driver from there website, nothing, ive installed the AMD WFI driver nothing
in device manager it still says network controller with a yellow ! warning so its not finding it.

without wifi i cant update anything, cant get teh gigbyte app sort in unless i install manually...may do that.

my bios say its FB? not sure what Rev that is.

can anyone help with what i should do next : (
