ive already bought some G.Skill 6400HZ cas4 and a X1900XT

im ordering the cpu and motherboard today and i have chosen the following:

Asus P5B Deluxe
E6400

if someone can show me some evidence that a different board will be just as good i will take it into consideration.

Thanks for looking and thanks for any replies

The only obbjection id have with the mb is the price. Personally id spend the extra £10 and bet the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) or save £28 and get the Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775). Unless u really need the crossfire, considering that the second slot is x4, the same as the DS4 at £15 less. If you were considering crossfire then the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) is the way to go as it has 2x pci-e x16 slots.

but doesnt the ds4 have first boot problem with some ram? because of the 1.8v setting?

EDIT: i can get that board "P5B Deluxe wifi" at £130 from another e-tailer

Depends on bios version me thinks. Afaik the current batch are shipped with f2 bios. Mine booted no prob at 1.8v on the f2 bios with the Geil 2.1v mem.

i dont know, i dont want to spend all this money with a chance it may not boot

(a lot of money to me)

Considering everything id still recommend going for the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775). Its not that much more and has proven itself.

well if i ordered from ocuk to get that board im about £30 more than the other e-tailer and the P5B dlux. is it worth an extra £30?

You gonna pay £30 for a wireless network card anyway. Thats if u got a use for one anyway, but id wait a bit and let others comment on their experiences.

ive had a few votes for the p5b and a few for ds3/4, im going out now to swap some money arround i'll put enough in for the extra and if i decide its worth the extra i'll get it.

the p5b from the other e-tailer has wifi too btw.

975 - 965
ich7 - ich8 (only 1 ide slot)
x16,x16 pci-e - x16,x4 pci-e
wifi - no wifi
etc.

Worth the extra £10 ?
The dumbest thing is, the 965 chipset is supposed to be the newer one right? yet its x16, x4 - kinda screws people with crossfire setups in performance, why on earth bring out a new chipset if its not as capable as its previous.

ahh blow it im getting it, if it doesnt work i'll just RMA it.

asus p5b deluxe and a e6400. lol thanks for advice, help and stuff.

tthanks, order placed and hopefully if everything goes to plan i will have everything tomorrow and can start my overclocking adventure. i may even lap my ninja for better contact.
