latest GPU dissapointments

The thing is they may not have any need to release a 1080ti for some time, If ever. It'll depend on how good Vega is and when it releases, If the best Vega only just matches a 1080 why bother unless they have a load of unused chips.
If there's gonna be two Vega's, each with a cut down version, it stands to reason that if we assume 480 = 390X performance, then full baby Vega should easily do around 1080-levels, with a cut down version occupying the 980Ti/1070-esque spot or even a bit better. Then big Vega should pretty much smash the 1080.

Nvidia *must* plan on a bigger Pascal release.

I think people are really not seeing that the big Nvidia/AMD cards are going to be monsters. GP104 is a good bit smaller than GM204 was, yet is some 70% faster. It is not going to take a 600mm^ chip to get the same level of improvement over a Titan X/980Ti.

Thing is, if they can charge 2x - 3x as much for the Titan Pascal and 1080Ti vs the cards we have now, for marginal increase in overall production costs, I think they will jump on it once the 1080 has milked people dry.

If I recall correctly, AMD did not really have a response to the GTX 980 as such, but the Titan X and subsequently 980Ti were released and if I recall correctly from reports, even Nvidia were pretty surprised with how well the Titan X sold (until arrival of 980Ti). If Nvidia think they can make more cash from offering a 1080Ti to people still holding out and plenty of those who will make the jump from 1080 to 1080Ti, I think they will. Right now Nvidia are really only competing with themselves. If it it offers a competitive product to whatever VEGA turns out to be, all the better, but I do think we will see one released either way.

What is the problem with the "blower Founders" edition

Runs fairly warm without custom fan profile. Though TBH the blower cooler is improved vastly over prior gens in terms of acoustics.

Dont really bother me as i'm only going to spend £600+ on a ti or titan.
The costs of GPU's seems to be insane to me. But maybe I've always been a bit oblivious as it's only recently I've been able to afford such high end.

It's laughable. I'll wait for the proper 1080ti. Oh behave. The minute it's out and people can actually buy the dam things you'll be told to wait for the 1180. Stop it with the wait for this. Buy what's available and then go and enjoy life and stop faffing about with useless glimpses into the future. OK I forgot what the topic was now. ;-p

It is ridiculous you have to wait nearly 2 months for stock since release. Even for FE cards.

Even the 980Ti was not as bad as this. I managed to buy two custom MSI 980Ti Gaming 6G's, 10pm at night on launch day.

Yes but the Ti is typically a "bigger jump" than the others. making it a better/longer lasting purchase. 12 months after the 980 release it's nothing special. 12 months after the 980Ti release, it's still special.

NV leaned on Micron to get GDDR5X out before they were ready, they also panicked and jumped the gun after AMD showed chips before them. So logistically they simply weren't prepared. However they have been able to spin it as "selling out worldwide, unable to meet demand" and as usual people buy it.

It was a known fact custom cards were to release 2 weeks after the FE's.

There was conflicting information, NV did a poor job of communicating.
