I must have missed something - i am using Windows Visat ^4bit version and the Internet Explorer that came with it.

Whenever I browse sites with JAVA / Flash, it can't run saying I need to update. So I do, and it still doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

The 64 bit version runs so much faster on my computer so i would prefer to use that but it looks like I will have to resign myself to the 32 bit version for Flash sites etc

its probably quicker because none of your extensions are running on it :-) there is little to no difference 64->32bit in speed in the real world

It gives you an idea of the state of the Adobe Flash source code... that they are unable to simply click "Compile x64". There must be some pretty huge roadblocks (i.e. bad code) in the way that prevents them from doing it.

Adobe are jokers, it's about time there was a standard video/audio format that is built into all modern browsers

Why don't you ditch IE and try Firefox or Chrome or some other browser. I'm sure you will be much happier with Firefox/Chrome than with IE.

Anyway I don't remember having any problems with IE and flash sites, however I hardly ever use IE.

Only if there was a common HTML5 <video> codec, which there isn't.

It's still a draft spec, they'll choose one before they finalise it.

The reason why there was no universal binary for Photoshop for Mac for so very long was that Adobe had hacked together so much legacy code, that there was still stuff in it being emulated from old 68k code for PPC.
